Aikido Instructor Insurance
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that was developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a combination of his martial studies, his philosophy and his religious beliefs. Aikido is often called the “Way of Unifying with Life’s Energy” or as the “Way of the Harmonious Spirit.” This particular martial art was developed with the intent that the practitioners will be able to protect themselves from their attackers, while, at the same time, protecting their attackers from injury. Although the approach to executing Aikido is varied with regard to interpretation and emphasis, most practitioners have concern for the well-being of the attacker. Ueshiba developed Aikido during the late 1920s, and he was influenced greatly by the spiritual leader of the Omoto-kyo religion which emphasized the attainment of utopia during one’s lifetime. Its unique influence on Aikido was to be able to redirect an attack so that both the receiver and the attacker were left unharmed. Aikido is seen as a method of self-defense with emphasis placed upon controlled relaxation, flexibility and endurance and with less emphasis on strength training. Aikido training is mental as well as physical. Injuries involve joint injuries and soft tissue injuries. As everyone knows, participating in a martial arts activity increases the likelihood of sustaining an injury. Although the occurrence of injuries in Aikido is less frequent than with other martial arts, they do occur, and when they do, you are going to want to have Aikido Insurance from Westpoint Insurance.
